Villette

An interesting tale of a young girls search for acceptance and love as she grows older. The main character in the story Lucy Snowe is introduced as an extremely plain person in personality and appearance. She is left with out a relative or money and manages to travel to France and procure a job as a teacher there. The bulk of her story occurs at the school she works at to her and her close friends. Although well-written, this story pales in comparison to Jane Eyre but it is a fun and interesting read. Lucy Snowe is painted so non-descript one wonders what could possibly happen to her. The ending is pretty ambiguous which might upset the reader but overall the story is masterfully put together.
