Trading Up

By Candace Bushnell

-pgs: 504

I really enjoyed 4 Blondes and Sex in the City but I felt this novel did not do the author any justice. I do realize that this is popular fiction and really has no merit. However, it was not up to the caliber of Bushnell’s other work. It is either that or I have grown and matured and this just annoys me because I cannot relate to it. The story centers on Janey Wilcox a new Victoria Secret’s model who is whiney, selfish, annoying, sex crazy and unable to think for herself. You get a good look in to who she is and why she is the way she is. In addition, you meet all of her associates who are as messed up as she is. The plot of the story was weak and I felt that we were building up to something big but never got it. It was very anticlimactic. Not a good reflections of Bushnell’s other work and almost hard to complete.
