Tales of Unease

By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

- pgs: 208

Doyle is mostly remembered as the author of Sherlock Homes. However, he is highly overlooked as being a great writer of suspense short stories. The endings of the stories are very surprising and well written. I would equate Stephen King’s ability to write scary stories to being comparable to Doyle’s I would not be surprised if King received inspiration from his stories from this author. Although most are well written, others in this collection are long and tiring with no true surprise at the end. Considering the period this was written in, Doyle did a wonderful job manipulating suspense to surprise the reader.
