Hard Times

By Charles Dickens

-pgs: 229

Although I have enjoyed other Dickens’s novels, I did not find this one satisfying at all. I felt the plot was easily conjured and inferred way before hand. Therefore, there were no secrets in this novel. In addition, the characters were not believable and not real. Last, Dickens attempts to use patois dialogue for people that is hard to distinguish and very confusing. This unfortunately caused me to miss large portions of this story. The purpose of this story centers a round a family raised by facts (no fun) and their relations with the neighboring town Coketown. Only a true Dickens fan should attempt reading this story.
