By C.S. Lewis

-pgs: 223

Another chapter in the Narnian Chronicles. This one features the four children being pulled back into Narnia. Although hundreds of years have passed in Narnia, the kids have only aged about one year and return as their current age in Britain. Their task is to return the rightful king to power. In addition, they must locate all the hidden talking animals that are in hiding because they fear for their life. Also, they have to awaken the talking trees who have been mute for the past hundred years. Aslan returns in this book and we receive some sad news about Susan and Peter. However, it is well-written and a good addition to the story line. Very enjoyable.

In addition, a very enjoyable C.S. Lewis novel with an imaginative story line that still centers on the Chronicles of Narnia. This story’s main plot focuses on a boy whose parentage is unknown and a horse that is a talking horse that is trying to get back to his home. The two team up to travel to Narnia and along the way have many adventures. The true parentage of the boy is revealed and the four British children make an appearance in the story also. This tale is nice because it gives you a new book into the tales of Narnia and the surrounding geography. This story still contains the vivid imagery and colorful scenes of multiple characters. A great read for all ages.

I had to reread this classic to remind myself of all the events in the book so I can understand the rest of the series. I vividly remember reading this book as a middle schooler but I honestly think I enjoyed it more as an adult. Lewis’s humor is more prevalent as an adult – I better understand it as an adult. In addition, I truly appreciate the vivid imagery and the overt description. The fantasy world and all the interactions of all the characters are extremely memorable. I especially enjoy the addition of the professor and the connection to the last story. Acceptable for all ages and full of life lessons.
