One of my favorite books as a child was A Wrinkle in Time. I thought it would be nice to read more works by this author. Therefore, I read this story which is her first novel. This is the story of Katherine Forrester and her growth as a child to a young adult. Katherine is faced with a lot of adversity in her life and you see how these experiences shape her. The story is very engaging and L’Engle uses dialogue will to keep the story moving at a fast pace. I found this tale to be easy to read and to contain some strong insights into humanity. The story makes you ponder the main characters and it makes you predict what will happen next. In the Forward, at the beginning of my edition, L’Engle discusses what it was like to write this tale and what it was like to revisit these characters in her sequel to this story. I look forward to reading the sequel of this tale. I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a quick page turning fictional story.

A very imaginative story of a family who is looking for their father who has disappeared. The family goes on a quest and is helped by three witches who take the family to a distant planet to locate their father. The children all have special powers and use them to free their father. On their path to free their father, they run into memorable characters that are unlike any seen before in fiction. Written for children in fifth to sixth grade but enjoyed by all. A truly unique novel that your children will find as an easy read and that will keep their interest throughout the reading experience.
