By Sophie Kinsella

-pgs: 325

Another well-written Becky Bloomwood escapade. The story immediately continues where it left off in the first tale and Becky is dating Luke, working for the TV Station and climbing her way back into debt with her shopping problems. Becky accompanies Luck to New York on business and discovers the amazing shopping opportunities in America. In particular, she learns of sample sales and goes a little over the top when she shops in her normal Becky style. However, in this story, her debt is not her only problem and the relationship she has built with Luke is jeopardized. Her situation is very difficult and one wonders if she will be able to get out of it. All the important characters from the first story are in this tale and it is full of the humor that was seen in the initial story. A great enjoyable read that keeps your interest with its suspense and like the previous tales it still includes notes from her bank, etc. If you love chic literature and you have not read this series, you are really missing out!!

Shopaholic Ties the Knot

-pgs: 328

The third books of the Shopaholic series!! Another amusing tale of Becky Bloomwood’s trials and tribulations with shopping. Unfortunately for her, this story focuses on Becky’s wedding which is being held on the same day in two different countries. Becky finds herself in one of her famous Becky holes and cannot figure out how to dig herself out. As seen in her past stories, Becky does not deal with the issue until it is too late and no solution seems possible. Also, as seen in previous holes she has dug, she does not tell those around her until they cannot possible help her. Normally, I am amused by Becky’s problems but I did become a little agitated in this story just because I did not think it was possibly that someone could be so indecisive. To me, the big was painful to read in parts for this reason. However, the author still maintains the normal Becky humor and all of Becky’s past friends and enemies reappear in this book to guide her or hinder her. Another amusing story that should definitely be read if you are reading this series. If not and you love fiction about a lost addicted female character who is constantly involved in humorous situations, then this book is for you.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

pgs: 312

A rather humorous British novel of a poor girl who is suffering from a shopping addiction. This tale is full of humorous scenarios as well as witty dialogue. The story is written from the point of view of the poor girl who writes for a finance magazine but has absolutely no concept of finance herself. Kinsella magnificently relays the girl’s frustration, anger, fear and stress in this story. In addition, she does an excellent job of including examples of letters from the people who are hounding her for money. The resolution of this story is unexpected but highly enjoyable and it adds to the good humor seen throughout the entire tale. It definitely is not a story to read to help you if you are experiencing financial trouble from a shopping addiction and most people would not have the fairy tale ending that she gets. However, if you are looking for a light hearted amusing tale, this would be the one to read.
