Another interesting installment of the Wobegon series. I find Keillor’s novels to be particularly entertaining because of his main sub plots and digressions. Although when first reading them, it may appear like the story has nothing to do with the main plot, he does connect the information back to the main plot in a clear, concise manner. I enjoy the way he describes people and how he makes them into a specific, unique person who is completely three dimensional with quirks and faults. I also like how he handles his main character which may reflect his own life a little and although the plot really does not make big strides it still comes to an acceptable conclusion. I feel that Keillor’s work may not appeal to the vast amount of fiction readers out there but I also believe that numerous people will be entertained by his vivid writings.

An interesting involved story that explains the beginning of the city of Wobegon and continues to its purpose today. The story breaks down into chapters that cover certain themes like Home, New Albion, Spring and Revival. As the town’s doings gets closer to present day, the story becomes concerned with a main character “Johnny”. The chapters break down into different tales that deal with each theme that are very amusing as well as involved. This truly would be a difficult undertaking because of the intricacy of the stories especially there detail. My favorite section centered on a Boys School and a Bear. It is a difficult read because it covers so much material. However, I do recommend and found it to be very enjoyable. Also, when I had finished it, I felt like I had really accomplished something.
