The Old Man and the Sea

This is the story of an old man’s betrayal and loss. The man is a Cuban fisherman who catches the biggest fish of his life and goes missing for days. In the end, he loses the fish and suffers the pain of this loss. What is even worse is the betrayal he feels from his own people because they do not believe his story and ridicule him. The story uses great description and has very memorable characters. This classic is read by most students because of its easy language and strong symbolism. Hemingway won the Nobel Prize for Literature and this is a masterpiece and a reason why he is recognized as a great writer.
