A coming of age story, set around 1776 that deals with the life of a minuteman (a young boy of fifteen) who is forced by circumstances out of his control to become a man. This story takes place over the span of two days and in it a town is forced to come to arms against the British troops that are marching towards it. The story also tells the ordeals of a town. How they come together to fight an adversary and how they deal with a loss. The book effectively reflects what it would be like to be a young teenager during this time period. However, it is slow in some places and one has to have an inner determination to finish it. There are no surprises in this novel.
