-pgs: 430

An interesting suspense tale set in the secret governmental code-breaking division of the NSA. As in all Dan Brown books, the true villain of the story is never as apparent as one would think. There is always a mastermind behind the events occurring in the story. I did not think that Dan Brown did as good a job as in his other books of hiding the villain from his audience. It was pretty evident who the “secret” villain would be. Also, I was not sold on the deaf assassin that was chasing one of the main characters throughout the story. I felt his character was not very well-developed and far from believable. This is not a difficult tale to read and the pages practically turn themselves. However, if you are looking for a deep story that will affect you, you better keep looking. This story is meant only for entertainment purposes and nothing else.

A unique conspiracy story involving the President, his senior advisor, Nasa and several other government organizations. I felt the story was appropriate for what this type of fiction represents popular fiction. It was an easy read full of suspense which helped you continue reading until you finished. Definitely not a story to ponder at length but an interesting tale that could amuse you and keep you engaged for several hours. I found the main characters to be very appropriate especially the author’s development of them. I would give it a thumbs up if you are looking for a conspiracy story that can be easily digested without thinking.

Wow, I was very impressed with the Da Vinci Code so I decided to read the prequel. I find that this story is even better than the Code. I felt that Brown was not trying to pass this story off as fact but instead he is creating an interesting piece of fiction based off of some traditional landmarks. Although I do fear that Brown is writing some type of formal fiction. Both stories main characters are Richard Langdon and a very educated female. In both stories, there is a very unique villain who is being directed by the mastermind behind the scenes. Also, both stories involve secret societies and the church. I do enjoy the mystery and I hope that Brown breaks from this because it does not show that he is a good writer. Instead, it looks like he is good at writing one thing.
