By Aphra Behn

-pgs: 268

The story of a noble slave who fights for the love of his princess when his land is invaded by colonists who attempt to invoke their laws and rules on others. Within this novel, there is a rather brutal slaying of a slave that is sure to turn your stomach as well as deter you from supporting the colonists. This was Behn’s purpose to write a novel that was obviously speaking out against Great Britain’s colonization of areas. Behn wanted to include it hidden in an interesting story for the reader to discover instead of saying it outright. It is the message within the text. For this reason, it is an interesting historical read.
