Call of the Wild and White Fang

By Jack London

-pgs: 295

These two novels are best read together because they serve as foils for each other. In one novel, a normal dog it taken away from his mater and forced to live under harsh conditions in Alaska. There this dog fights the urge to abandon all human contact and return to the wild. In the second novel, a dog is taken from the wild and has human contact forced upon it. You see him change from a barbarous, destructive animal to a loving, kindly watchdog. Both novels are very well written and enjoyable to read.
