A Good Man is Hard to Find
By Flannery O’Connor
- pgs: 251
This books claims to have established Flannery O’Connor as a master of the short story. However, I would beg to differ. Although some of these stories are very well written, others lack the fundamentals of a short story and the book as a whole lacks a unifying theme. The stories range from excellent to bad. O’Connor relies mainly on surprise endings but has not quite mastered the use of suspense. After reading the collection, the endings become very predictable.
